It all started with…
It all began with bagels, and then it grew to be bigger than bagels. By the Batch is a bakery and eatery that started as a small, humble vision from Penny. At the beginning of 2019, By the Batch was started in a small apartment kitchen, selling at a local farmers market and vendor market. Penny quickly learned that baking hundreds of bagels in a small apartment every week was not the best idea, so she started looking for a commercial kitchen to rent.
In September 2019, By the Batch officially moved into the old White House Cafeteria. From there, they started to make changes, starting with introducing their bagel sandwiches and sweet treats. By the Batch is a full-service restaurant that offers delicious breakfast and lunch options and provides catering options no matter the size.
Legacy
Even though the name has changed from the White House Cafeteria, By the Batch continues to honor some traditional aspects like soups, and German Fridays with cheese buttons and kneophla soup.
